Vision and Mission Statements

P.S. 111 MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of P.S. 111M is to provide a rich, varied, and cognitively challenging curriculum to all students in order to help students become deep thinkers, creative problem solvers, and knowledgeable citizens.  We aim to provide learning experiences that create an outcome in which all students have access to any opportunity that is presented to them.  By doing so, we build academic mindsets in our students and foster academic resiliency that will carry through middle school, high school, college, and beyond.

P.S. 111 strives to help students build skills and strategies to help them become creative problem solvers, reach their full academic and personal potential, live life with compassion and integrity, and work collaboratively.  In order to achieve these goals, we engage our students in curricula that require students to work independently as well as collaboratively, allow them to solve complex problems in a variety of ways (i.e. multiple entry points), and engage them in lessons to create good citizens.

We aim to ensure that we provide equity in access, as well as equity in outcomes, to all students and all families.  The school promotes a growth mindset belief and works with every student to ensure they view themselves as capable, high achievers.  We are a mindful school, and these practices are used to assist students be compassionate and to maintain calm.

We work to maintain ethnic, economic, and gender balances throughout the school, and we work to integrate students in various activities throughout the year such as school spirit days, field day, inter-class activities, science fair, etc…

Our overall goal is to create well-rounded learners capable of making life choices that are theirs to make in order to ensure that our students can be caring and responsible citizens who are lifelong learners.
